While Apple and Android are battling it out over operating systems, Samsung is getting ready for its next hardware launch in a few weeks. The Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event has a confirmed date scheduled for July 9, at 10:00 am ET / 7 am PT. The Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to bring an “Ultra” experience in July, centering on the new foldables that the company hopes to use to impress its fan base.
We know that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be formally unveiled during the events, along with a flurry of Samsung’s AI upgrades, but the Galaxy Unpacked event has something additional to offer. The Korean phone maker recently released a few obscure teasers for a new Ultra Fold experience, suggesting the fold smartphones will see some enhancements that bring them closer to the premium Galaxy S series of devices.
The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 Event has Been Confirmed for July 9
The invites for the official Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event have been sent out, and the event will take place on July 9 at a venue in Brooklyn, New York. Those who don’t get to attend in person will be able to watch the livestream through the traditional channels, such as the Samsung website and the company’s YouTube page. Of course, we’ll also update this space with everything we learn from the event next month.
So far, we know that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 devices will make a debut to stir up the foldable market segment once more. The Fold and Flip releases from last year were a huge success, and Samsung continues to lead in the premium fold market, although alternatives like the Honor Magic V3 and Vivo Fold 3 have caught up to some of its success.
Motorola’s budget-friendly flip phone alternatives have also become popular in the last few years, but Samsung doesn’t appear to be too concerned with the non-premium market. Instead of bringing down the prices or releasing a cheaper variant to reach a wider range of customers, Samsung appears to be headed in the opposite direction, towards an Ultra fold variant that will undoubtedly be more expensive. The more affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE could also be released, but all eyes are bound to be on the Galaxy Ultra at the Unfold July event.
The Galaxy Ultra Fold Is Expected to Be a Super-Slim Addition to the Lineup
Nothing says premium like a smartphone that’s barely there. 2025 appears to be the year of the thin phones, with many brands chasing the slim-premium aesthetic. Even Apple reportedly has an iPhone 17 Slim on its way, which is expected to be the most sleek variant of its upcoming releases.
The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event teaser is just made up of basic, bland silhouettes, but they suggest that at least one of the Fold phone releases will be extremely thin, borrowing some of the aesthetic appeal of the recently released Galaxy S25 Edge. Not much else has been revealed about this Ultra variant, but previous teasers suggest that it could sport some advanced cameras and enhanced AI integration to make it a more appealing purchase.
