Analogue 3D Delayed Again: You’re Not Surprised and Neither Are We

Analogue 3D delayed once more, with the shipping date now set for late August. The company claims that tariffs are to blame.

Despite our hopes that the N64 console remake would begin shipping on time, the Analogue 3D has been delayed once more. In an update to the organization’s FAQ page and Twitter/X account, the company confirmed that the Analogue 3D shipping date has been reset for late August 2025, instead of in July, as previously scheduled. Despite the early marketing surrounding the console, Analogue has repeatedly failed to provide fans with timely updates on its upcoming launch ever since it closed pre-orders last year.

The delay in updates on the Analogue console is one thing, but the lack of any gameplay or promotional content since the initial advertising has convinced many buyers that the console is far from being ready to ship. Their frustrations are not unfounded, as this is not the first time Analogue has delayed the console either. While it has chosen to place the blame on the tariffs this time, many have a sneaking suspicion that the late August estimate will not see the release of the console either.

Analogue 3D Delayed Once More: A Late August Release Now On the Cards

The Analogue 3D is an upcoming console designed for playing old-school Nintendo 64 games in 4K resolution. Ever since the console was first announced, gamers have been itching to get their hands on the device and revisit some of their favorite titles in high definition. The thought of revisiting the awe of putting their cartridges to good use, just like when they were originally released, was too much to resist.

Analogue has a successful track record with its releases, so gamers were quick to jump at the chance to pre-order these $250 retro consoles for themselves, along with the compatible 64 Bluetooth Controller being sold by 8BitDo. Pre-orders for the console began in October 2024, and while many were hoping for a release in the same year, Analogue eventually scheduled it for Q1 2025. After a period of delay, the company let gamers know that they would be contacted before shipping began in July. With each passing day, the excitement around the console kept growing, but Analogue remained oddly silent.

Fans began to prowl the company’s social media page, asking Analogue why they were unable to offer up any gameplay footage or screenshots to showcase that the console was indeed on its way or even capable of outputting the 4K N64 games, but Analogue made sure to ignore each query. In August, it’ll be almost 10 months since fans placed their orders for the console.

Analogue Console Delay Update: What to Expect Now

Now, halfway through July, the company has updated all its platforms with a notice that the Analogue 3D shipping date will be set sometime in late August 2025. All the “July 2025” indicators on the website have been scratched out with the new estimated timeframe, but the company has still not narrowed down on an exact release date. Analogue also updated its FAQ section and Twitter/X page with an announcement that the console would be delayed.

Analogue has also repeatedly emphasized that those who want to cancel their pre-orders can do so and expect a full refund. The constant reminders of the option to cancel feel more like encouragement rather than reassurance that all is well, which makes us a tad bit suspicious regarding the console’s release. Still, it is an option that’s available to gamers, so if you’d prefer to cut your losses and spend the money on something else, like the upcoming Xbox ROG Ally handheld or the N64 console that has been teased—but not confirmed—by ModRetro, you can choose to do so.

Analogue 3D Delay Linked to Tariffs

The Analogue 3D may be delayed, but the console maker has a good excuse this time: unavoidable tariffs. The ongoing chaos around the tariffs in the US has caused many businesses to struggle with settling on a strategy to handle the changes and burdens that were promised by new regulations. The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 was also similarly delayed due to the administration’s fluctuating policies, however, the console finally released last month.

Analogue explained that the change in tariffs was the reason for the company’s decision to push the shipping date further. The company also stated that it was planning to take on the costs and not raise the prices for these pre-orders, which is an admirable decision in this day and age. However, it did not explain how and why the “sudden” tariffs had caused the Analogue 3D shipping date to be pushed back all the way to the end of August.

“Following last week’s sudden tariff changes, Analogue3D will now begin shipping next month. We’re absorbing the costs—your preorder price stays the same. No additional charges. Late August, the wait ends: reviews go live with everything we’ve been saving for this moment.”

Analogue also went on to explain that it had worked hard on the 3D console and was excited to bring it to the fans who could see the results of their labor for themselves. It then added another reminder that cancelling the pre-order was still an option, just in case.

Do We Trust In Analogue 3D’s August 2025 Release Timeline?

For now, there’s nothing to do but wait to see if the Analogue 3D will be delayed again. The announcement post from Analogue is filled with a mix of opinions, with some fans grateful for an update, even if a disappointing one, and others questioning how the tariffs resulted in this delay. The lack of any gameplay or evidence of the console’s capabilities is troubling, especially if Analogue claims the console would have been ready to ship this month if not for the tariffs.

We’ve wondered about this before and considered whether the company is just playing it safe and waiting for the first shipment to go out before it begins promoting the console to new fans who might be tempted to place their orders. This is a possible explanation, but an unsatisfactory one at best. It is also unclear if future restocks will come at a higher price due to these tariffs, but we’ll let the first shipment reach customers before we begin guessing at what comes next.
